Objectives of the Department

• Biological and ecological studies of arthropod pests.
• Studies on biocontrol agents, Bti and Wolbachia bacteria with their utilization in controlling Aedes mosquitoes.
• Collection, identification and preservation of arthropods and their natural enemies.
• Integrated Vector Management (IVM) emphasizing the environmental toxicology of pesticides and resistance of pests.
• Molecular and phylogenetic study of arthropod insect pests and microorganisms carried by them.
