Objectives of the Department

• Appraise the characteristics and epidemiology of NCDs, including their complex relationship with communicable diseases.

• Measure, assess, and compare the burden of specific NCDs in different settings.

• Analyze the determinants of NCDs and their interactions at multiple levels (biological, environmental, behavioral, and social) to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies for tackling NCDs in specific contexts.

• Critically appraise the evidence on NCD prevention and control interventions, including emerging issues and operational challenges, and the need for multisectoral involvement.
